Leather items to nurture as they record your own history…
m.ripple is a leather brand with an atelier in Taito, Tokyo, that began its work in 2012. Every product is made by the maker himself, Hironobu Murakami, who cuts the leather with a leather knife, sews it on a treadle sewing machine, and finishes each piece by hand. After studying biotechnology, the maker was drawn to leather as a material and found his current path. With a deep understanding of the characteristics of each leather, he creates bags, wallets, and accessories that reflect their owners: pieces that can become worth owning for their own sake, rather than mere tools. As partners to walk through life with, the brand delivers leather items that grow with their users, recording their history along the way.

Beautiful Forms and High Practicality That Make the Most of Leather's Suppleness
Commitment 1
As practical items, they are designed around the idea that they should look their most beautiful when filled. Carefully assessing the characteristics of the leather, the patterns are drafted so that a beautiful silhouette emerges when a wallet holds cards and bills, or when a bag is packed with belongings. Capturing the firmness and suppleness of each leather, the design even reflects the silhouette that appears under the volume and weight of the contents. Rather than simply shaping the form, the design looks ahead to how a piece looks in the hand and even the emotions it stirs in its user, bringing a Japanese sensibility and aesthetic into everyday items.

Beautiful Aging That Deepens the More You Use It
Commitment 2
In pursuit of the ideal material, we also develop original leather with the cooperation of a tannery in Sumida, Tokyo. We choose materials that let you fully enjoy how they age, and by carefully assessing the characteristics of each leather, we put each one to its best use. Rather than embellishing with additions, we value drawing out the material's natural appeal. Through a character that changes with time and use, we deliver the true pleasure of leather: nurturing it as it records your own history.

From Cutting to Finishing: The Precision and Durability of One Maker's Handwork
Commitment 3
Every step, from cutting with a leather knife to sewing on a treadle sewing machine and finishing, is carried out by the maker alone. He brings the sensitivity of his fingertips to bear even on details that are hard to see, such as each individual stitch, the angle of the leather's cut edges, and the pressure applied when bonding pieces together, believing that the accumulation of details creates the beauty of the finished piece. Through layer upon layer of meticulous work, he shapes beauty and creates pieces made to withstand many years of use and repair.
